Our Mission

Our mission is to promote mutual goodwill and understanding between the citizens of Half Moon Bay, California and Kariwa-Mura, Japan. Students are immersed in the lifestyles and cultures of their counterparts through the exchange of student information and visits. Below is a summary of new or recent events and endeavors for our group:

Our Commemorative Friendship Garden, honoring over 30 years of sister city partnership and friendship between Half Moon Bay and Kariwa-Mura Japan, is near completion. We would love for you to join us for a community celebration to present this garden to the people of Half Moon Bay on Saturday, October 10th 2026. This event will be free and open to the community. We hope to see you there!
